line flanges are joints where two pipes are joined end-to-end by flanges which are bolted together. flange size depends on the nps (nominal pipe size) and class (150#, 300#, etc.). piping is typically covered with hard insulation with a gap to allow for installation/removal of the stud bolts. a removable insulation blanket covers this gap while allowing for easy access for bolt inspection and/or line maintenance.
